Description:
The winery of my parents and Tavern called “Heuriger” is family-owned since 1683-2006. Getting back to the roots I founded my own wine production in 1999. Initial training at the school of Viticulture and Oenology in Klosterneuburg and also a number of study or working trips through different countries - such as Germany, France (Alsace), South Africa, Australia and New Zealand – was the source and inspiration to create excellent white wine: The idea to build a bridge between traditional doing at home and innovation, which I saw around the world on the one hand and the concept to bottle a small quantity of creative fine wines from the best terroirs in Vienna on the other hand. So I planted the first vineyard with the world famous variety Sémillon in one of the best terroirs named “Unger”, where an old almond tree still grows.- In the year 2000 the second vineyard was the Chardonnay on the south-facing slopes of the “Nußberg”; planted partly with the fruity clone from Mendoza in Argentina. In the meantime, by the end of 2006 another two old vineyards of more or less 25 years are cultivated by me (Varieties: Pinot blanc and Neuburger). The new “Sémio” and Chardonnay creations are exotic wines from the best classic vineyards of the city (“Falstaff”-Wineguide 2006/2007). The vintner´s (my) motto is, “it lies in the hand of the person to create something good”.
